Tea is for Tot

In anticipation of Baby Girl’s arrival, my cute mother-in-law treated the ladies in our family to Afternoon Tea at The Grand America Hotel for a sweet, intimate baby shower. For someone who spends their days wearing t-shirts and men’s basketball shorts (I’m in my third trimester, so hardly anything fits theses days, plus it’s like a million degrees outside and I’m chasing a toddler around), I secretly love all things fancy and wish it was a normal thing for adults to play dress-up. So tea-time was pretty much a dream come true.

They start you off with strawberries and cream (to cleanse the pallet) and then you are able to order your choice of tea or hot chocolate. I’m definitely more of a hot-chocolate type of person, so I ended up getting the mint hot chocolate.

Everyone’s drink arrives in it’s own little teapot, so you can pour your own and add cream or sugar as desired.

Then comes the finger sandwiches and scones (I forgot to get the scone in the photo). Everyone got one of each type. I can’t remember half of anything about them, but they were fancy, different, and fun to try some of each.

Last of all, came the dessert. Again, there was one of each type for every person. Not all of the desserts are pictured here because at this point I was so full, I could only imagine trying these 5.

Overall, it was fun to feel like a proper lady, and a great excuse for a girls outing. I loved every minute of it! There were other tables with little girls dressed up like princesses, which made me super excited for Baby Girl to be old enough to go to afternoon tea with me one day.
