Ginger Approved Lip Colors & Trends

I get asked a lot of questions about makeup from friends and family and the biggest questions are all about lips. One of my favorite areas of the face to color up is the lips! I feel like I’m pretty good  when it comes to the stylization of that area.  I decided to dedicate an entire post on lips and give some advice and products for the coming summer season. Be sure to stay tuned in this post because a surprise will be announced at the end!

A lot of people are intimidated by a bold lip color, such as the classic red. Don’t be intimidated, everyone can wear this beautiful color, you just have to pick the right shade of red. Everyone has a different skin tone so you need to find the correct shade to complement it. Examples, if you have a fair completion go for a blue red, medium complexion a blood red, olive complexion a dark red, and a deep complexion a brown red. Just go to your local Sephora or Ulta and try different color reds and you will find your perfect color and rock it.

What are the lip color trends for summer 2016? Well I’ll tell you lips stains are always a good idea as long as you put it on correctly and have a great color. When I put on a lip stain I won’t have to worry about eating or drinking and if you play it right it will look almost natural. The matte finish is still very popular especially in rosy hues. Even in the summer a dark vampy lip is still in season plus it looks great on all skin types. I would just recommend having a more natural eyeshadow to rock this look. I can’t forget to mention the amazing bright tropical colors orangey red, bright pink and coral colors are fun and vibrant especially adding a little gloss to help those lips shine.

Here are my top go to lip products for Summer 2016:

Milk Makeup Lip Marker

Okay this is really cool product I have been playing with. At first it looked like, and is, essentially a marker. Milk Makeup can be found at your local Sephora. It comes in many colors. It doesn’t dry out your lips but the color stays on through food, and drink the stain lives on. They have fours colors and I recommend the color BOSS which is red.

Sugar by Fresh

I love this this product, if I could have every color of this lip treatment I would. This is a sunscreen SPF 15 with color tint. Not only is this good for your lips but the color comes out really nicely. You can have a hint of color or build it up into a more bold lip. With 12 different colors to choose from you will find your most perfect color. I recommend Sugar Tulip color, which is a hot pink. This can also be found at your local Sephora.

Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick

Seriously folks, this is my favorite lipstick! Their season lines sell out so fast that I didn’t get to buy any of their amazing winter colors, which is just plan sad. I may have gone to Sephora just to put on the sample. This lipstick is full of moisture that doesn’t dry out your lips and gives a great matte finish. I recommend the Sweet Cream color (this is my go-to color for the summer season), which is a muted peach. Bite can also, big surprise, be found at Sephora.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick

Can I hear a “what what” on liquid lipstick, or more specifically, Anastasia’s Liquid Lipstick. The best thing about liquid lipstick, and why it has become so popular, is the easy application of the color on the lips. And this brand gives full-coverage in one big swipe. Not to mention that this really provides a long lasting lip color with no flakey lips.  I recommend Sad Girl, and don’t be fooled by the name, this color will give you a bold black cherry lip. Found not only at Sephora but Nordstrom’s as well.

Now I’m excited to announce the Three Whim’s first giveaway! If you haven’t been following us on Instagram go follow us because soon we will be hosting a giveaway so that you can win one of these mentioned rocking lip products. If you guys have any lip products that you love let us know!
