Capital City Antique Mall

I’m obsessed with a lot of things but one of them is antiquing. Now I grew up antique with mother, she was a big collector of dolls and snow babies. It drove me crazy when I was little, being dragged from antique store to antique store. Until I got older and saw a beautiful ring that my mother bought me. From there I became obsessed with collecting Jewelry, which slowly turned to art and records and so much more.

Going antiquing shows different decades of time from pop culture to household items. You never know what you’re going to find. You might not know but what qualifies as a Vintage item is something that is 20 years old and older. Technically, I’m vintage. Anyways, I’m always on the lookout for a great Antique store so when I saw Capital City Antique Mall in Salt Lake City I knew I had to go exploring.

I waited until my Mum was in town. I love watching her reaction whenever we go into any vintage or antique store. She comments in almost every store saying “oh I had that when I was young” or “oh that was in my living room when I was growing up.” When I walked into the antique Mall the first thing I came across was a wall of type writers. It was amazing; they had a huge warehouse with rows and rows of antique.

Varying from dishes like Pyrex, records, to old political buttons from JFK elections even an old “spy kit” from the 60s. It was so much to see.

We spent about an hour in the place and I felt like we didn’t really see everything. But my favorite thing were the  old poison bottles. It was so cool and I was tempted to buy three and display them during Halloween.

It was fun old time exploring and laughing with my Mum and I will definitely go again.

My last piece of advice when going to antique stores is when you find something you love BUY it. Don’t over think it because if you pass it up and then go back to get it it’s gone. I can’t tell you how many times this has happened to me. I then stay up late at night thinking about the things I never got. So happy antique and let me know what your favorite place to antique are??
